Book Sculpture Art Series: Pages from a Collection of Books

​

Books and how individuals can feel as if they become part of the book through its characters and narrative is the theme for this series; readers can feel as if the book is coming to life. Viewers can lose themselves in, or become transfixed by, the illustrations within each book similar to how they would when they are reading an enthralling novel.

There are an infinite number of ways to cut out or shape a book into something else. I chose to take the illustrations already present in the books as well as some of my own and make them into something tangible and encompassing for the viewer.

The books I chose to illustrate in 2 dimensions are all mystery novels: Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew and Sherlock Holmes. All these books are some of my favourites and I always love to curl up to a good mystery novel.
